Membership terms

Renewal, cancellation and refund policy

Effective 17 August 2026

This policy applies to Student, Professional and Organisational memberships purchased from Biophilic Cities Australia Inc. It should be read together with the membership description shown at checkout and our Privacy Policy.

Annual membership and automatic renewal

BCAU memberships run for 12 months from the date of purchase. Where the Stripe checkout identifies the membership as a recurring subscription, it will renew automatically every 12 months using the payment method held by Stripe until cancelled.

Prices and the recurring nature of the payment are displayed before checkout is completed. If a membership price changes, BCAU will provide reasonable notice before the next renewal.

Cancelling automatic renewal

Members may cancel automatic renewal at any time by emailing info@bcau.org. Please submit the request at least five business days before the renewal date so there is sufficient time to process it.

Cancellation prevents the next annual charge. Unless a refund is approved under this policy or required by law, membership benefits continue until the end of the already-paid membership period.

Change-of-mind requests

A member may request cancellation and a refund within 14 calendar days of an initial purchase or annual renewal. BCAU will generally approve the request where the member has not made material use of membership benefits during that period.

After 14 days, membership fees are generally non-refundable for change of mind, and partial or pro-rata refunds are not normally provided. BCAU may consider exceptional circumstances individually.

Incorrect, duplicate or unauthorised charges

Please contact BCAU promptly if a payment appears incorrect, duplicated or unauthorised. If BCAU confirms an error, the incorrect charge will be refunded to the original payment method.

Australian Consumer Law

Nothing in this policy excludes, restricts or modifies rights or remedies that cannot lawfully be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law. Where a membership service does not meet an applicable consumer guarantee, the member may be entitled to a remedy such as correction of the service, cancellation, compensation or a refund for the unused portion, depending on the circumstances.

Refund processing

Approved refunds are returned through the original payment method. Processing times are controlled partly by Stripe and the member’s financial institution, so the funds may take several business days to appear.

Membership access after cancellation or refund

When a full refund is issued, membership access and associated benefits may end immediately. When only automatic renewal is cancelled, access continues until the end of the paid term.

Request cancellation or a refund

Email info@bcau.org with the member’s name, membership type, payment date and the reason for the request. Do not email card details.
